SCCM R2 SP1 CU2 has been released

Microsoft just released CU2 for the current ConfigMgr R2SP1. You can get it here.

Installation

Download the Update, extract it and start “CM12_SP2R2SP1CU2-KB3100144-X64-ENU.exe” to install the Update.

Create a Backup of your database before you update your environment and test it in a Lab environment!

After this screen you can click through the next steps and select everything you need. (Normally you would leave everything as it is) 😉

After this thrilling part, you can sit back and wait, drink some coffee, paint a picture or whatever you like to do while looking at progress bars.

After Upgrade Task
1.
After you upgraded you need to update all your need boot images. I could not find any information about why, though. But its in the description of the upgrade process 😉

R2SP1_CU2_04

To do this you need to go to “Software Library -> Operating Systems -> Boot Images” and select all boot images one after the other and update them. Also look in your subfolders. You don’t need to update all of them, just the ones you are using. If you don’t know, update all of them.

It’s better to be safe than sorry aren’t you? But keep in mind that all DPs will be upgraded! This can put some load on your system!

2.

Upgrade your clients and consoles out there. Take a look at this post on how to do it.

Happy upgrading!

Cheers Philipp
